Monday, 26 February 2024

Michael Venus and Jamie Murray won their first title of the 2024 season after defeating Italian pair Lorenzo Musetti and Lorenzo Sonego 7-6(0), 2-6, 10-8 in the final.

The duo only dropped one set all week having come into the tournament without a win so far this year. Both players have jumped two places in the ATP rankings, with Venus now up to world No.17.

In 2023, Venus and Murray won a total of four ATP Tour trophies.

In other news, Erin Routliffe and Gabby Dabrowski lost their women's doubles semifinal match at the Dubai Tennis Championships 6-4, 6-4 to the Czech Republic's Katerina Siniakova and Australia's Storm Hunter.

The Kiwi Canadian pair have reached the semifinals or better at five of the last seven WTA 1000 or higher tier tournaments.
