Daniell and Oswald kick off clay court season in style

Monday, 05 April 2021

Marcus Daniell and his Austrian partner Philipp Oswald have made a great start to their ATP clay court season.

The second seeds have turned in an impressive performance to win their first match at the tournament in Marbella in Spain. Daniell and Oswald have thrashed former French Open champions, Spaniard’s Feliciano and Marc Lopez 6-1, 6-2 in just 52 minutes.

It was a totally dominant performance from Daniell and Oswald to reach the quarter finals as they converted five of their nine break point chances while they didn’t face a single break point against their serve.

Meanwhile Artem Sitak and Lithuania’s Ricardas Berankis will play their first-round match against the Mexican pair of Santiago Gonzalez and Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela tonight.

On the WTA Tour, Erin Routliffe and Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova will play their first-round match at the Bogota Open tomorrow against top seeds Arantxa Rus and Tamara Zidansek.
