Bayleys Open Returns To Hamilton For 2026

Professional tennis will return to Hamilton this summer, with the Bayleys Open set to bring another week of world-class competition to the Waikato Tennis Centre from 6-13 December.

The 2026 Bayleys Open will be the second edition of the World Tennis Tour event, giving Waikato tennis fans the opportunity to watch some of the world’s best emerging players compete for valuable ATP and WTA ranking points, and thousands in prize money.

The inaugural Bayleys Open in 2025 delivered a memorable week for the local tennis community, with Hamilton’s own Anton Shepp claiming his first professional singles title in front of the home crowd, many of which were friends and family. Shepp is now New Zealand’s highest ranked men’s singles player, and is inside the world’s top 500.

Naming rights sponsor Bayleys Waikato, who have been the driving force behind the event, are excited to bring it back.

Waikato Tennis Manager Wayne Peterson says the success of the inaugural tournament has set the platform for an even bigger 2026 event.

“We are delighted to bring the Bayleys Open once more to the Waikato Tennis Centre. We couldn't be prouder of the inaugural event in 2025, with so many memorable moments. From our local hope Anton Shepp winning his first professional title surrounded by friends and family, to our junior prospects taking to the court, being asked to warm up with the professionals before their matches. Let alone everything that the huge cast of volunteers, ball kids, officials, and staff achieved.

We are raring to go again for 2026, excited to welcome back the rising stars of the game to Hamilton once more, while being able to offer to the Waikato locals the opportunity to watch them play for free.”

The event is also generously supported by Hamilton City Council.

The tournament is expected to again attract an international field of emerging players, with competitors looking to build their world rankings and take the next step in their professional careers.

For local players, the event provides a rare opportunity to compete against international opposition without having to travel overseas, earning valuable ranking points and prize money, with the advantage of home crowd support.

The Bayleys Open will also continue to provide a strong community focus, with local volunteers, officials and ball kids playing an important role in delivering the tournament.
