Anton Shepp Up First In Tomorrow’s Davis Cup Opening Match

The official draw ceremony for the upcoming Davis Cup tie between New Zealand and Japan took place today at Hoani Waititi Marae in West Auckland, with both teams experiencing a welcome to remember beforehand.

The draw was preceded by an official pōwhiri ceremony to welcome both teams to Waitākere ahead of the tie.

Following the pōwhiri, tamariki and rangatahi from the kura performed kapa haka, providing a special welcome for both teams.

The draw is as follows:

Saturday
Match 1: Anton Shepp vs Rei Sakamoto
Match 2: James Watt vs Sho Shimabukuro

Sunday
Match 3: Ajeet Rai & Finn Reynolds vs Yosuke Watanuki & Takeru Yuzuki
Match 4: Anton Shepp vs Sho Shimabukuro
Match 5 (if required): James Watt vs Rei Sakamoto

Please note that the captains have the right to change the draw up to one hour before the tie.
