Wet weather disrupts play at ITF World Tour event in Wellington

Thursday, 15 December 2022

Rain forced organisers to move doubles matches indoors at the men’s and women’s ITF US $15,000 tournament in Wellington.

Unfortunately, women’s second seed Paige Hourigan was forced to withdraw from her second-round singles match against Kiwi wildcard 17-year-old Kyna Decruy who has received a walkover through to the quarter finals.

The remaining women’s second round singles matches and all the men’s second round matches and the quarter finals will be played on Friday.

Doubles matches were moved indoors and there was plenty of action with the finalists in the men’s doubles being found.  Isaac Becroft and Aussie Kody Pearson will take on third seeds Finn Reynolds and his Aussie partner Jake Delaney.

Play starts at 10am on Friday with Kiwis Vivian Yang and Renee Zhang playing their respective second round singles first up.
