Venus and Puetz upset second seeds to reach Cincinnati semi-finals
Michael Venus and Tim Puetz have turned in one of their best performances of the season to reach the semi-finals at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati.
The 6th seeds have beaten 2nd seeded Spaniard Marcel Granollers and Argentine Horacio Zeballos 6-3, 6-3 in an hour and 10 minutes. They had lost to the pair in the Halle final on grass before Wimbledon.
Venus and Puetz who are eighth in the race to qualify for season ending ATP Finals in Turin in November, will face singles stars Stefanos Tsitsipas and Holger Rune for a place in the final.
Meanwhile Finn Reynolds is into the first ITF final of his professional career at a tournament in Memphis. Reynolds and his partner Millen Hurrion have beaten the top seeds Abraham Asaba and Shunsuke Mitsui 7-6 (7) 6-3.
