Routliffe gets walkover, Venus on Rod Laver

Saturday, 20 January 2024
New Zealand's Erin Routliffe and Canadian Gaby Dabrowski have been given a walkover victory into the third round of the Australian Open.
They were to play the team of Veronika Kudmermetova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, but the Russian duo withdrew from the tournament as Pavlyuchenkova has an abdominal injury.
Routliffe and Dabrowski will now face the Chinese pair of Hanyu Guo and Xinyu Jiang in the third round on Sunday evening on Margret Court Arena.
The top half of the women's doubles draw is devoid of seeds in the third round with the US Open champs now the highest ranked team remaining.
And it's the big court for Michael Venus and Alilda Sutjiadi in their second round Mixed Doubles.
They play second on Rod Laver Arena in the evening against Australian wildcards Olivia Gadecki and Marc Polmans.
