Back injury causes Erin Routliffe to pull out of Osaka semifinal

Friday, 18 October 2024

Cristina Bucsa and Monika Niculescu were given a walkover in their semifinal match against Erin Routliffe and Gaby Dabrowski on Friday in Osaka.

It was the No 4 seeds against the top seeds on Court No 1 at the WTA 250 tournament in the Japanese city.

But the contest didn’t take place as Routliffe hurt her back a little in the quarterfinal match in Osaka and she wanted to be cautious before the upcoming big tournaments in Tokyo and Saudi. Routliffe expects to be over the back issue in a few days.

Routliffe and Dabrowski have already qualified to play at the season-ending WTA finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, starting on November 2.
