Routliffe bows out of Indian Wells while Venus gets underway tomorrow

Erin Routliffe and her Norwegian partner Ulrikke Eikeri have been narrowly beaten in the first round of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

Routliffe and Eikeri have lost 4-6, 6-0, 10-7 in an hour and 21 minutes to the Czech pair of Marie Bouzkova and Lucie Hradecká.

Routliffe will play with Poland’s Alicja Rosolska at her next two tournaments in Miami and Charleston.

Michael Venus and his German partner Tim Puetz will open  their campaign tomorrow. They face the Polish pair of Hubert Hurkacz and Lukasz Kubot in the first round.

It's a tricky match for Venus and Puetz who are the 6th seeds.
