Routliffe and Rosolska switch focus to clay
Erin Routliffe and her Polish partner Alicja Rosolska kick off their campaign tomorrow at the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston in South Carolina.
They will play the fourth seeds Andreja Klepac from Slovenia and Poland’s Magda Linette who has played doubles with Rosolska before.
36-year-old Rosolska is one of the most experienced players on tour and is currently ranked 59 compared to 34th ranked Routliffe. The pair have achieved some solid results this year and have committed to playing the European clay court season where they can get into tournaments together, starting with Stuttgart later this month.
Rosolska revealed she had great chemistry with Routliffe both on and off the court.
“I think I really like her personality and she is not stressing too much. She's very easy going and I like her aggressive style on court. She’s always fighting.” Rosolska said.
“It’s very helpful to have a partner like this who is not giving up and fighting for each point.”
And it’s off the court where Routliffe is also appreciated, helping Rosolska with her young son Charlie when needed.
“She's amazing. She's so good. She's actually helping me so often. Sometimes I need to do my warmup and Erin does a quicker warm up so she can play with Charlie before I'm going on court.” Rosolska revealed.
Routliffe says their friendship has made it easy to gel together on court.
“Oh, yeah, for sure. I mean, I think a lot of players are when they're happier they're doing a lot better having more success. I think I am like that even maybe a little bit more than other players I really have to be just enjoying myself no matter what I'm doing if I want to play well. I love the vibes we have off the court with Alicja, with her husband and then with Charlie her little boy so we really do have a good time and I think it's definitely helped make this partnership even better. So hopefully we can continue and have even more success in the future.”
