Miami semifinal spot secured for Michael Venus, Nikola Mektic

Wednesday, 26 March 2025

Michael Venus and Nikola Mektic have won their quarterfinal match at the Miami Open, defeating Christian Harrison and Evan King 6-4 3-6 10-7.

The Kiwi-Croatian duo have reached their first semifinal since winning the ASB Classic in January. With this win over the American pair, they seem to be back in form after a rough patch.

There was one break of serve for each team over the first two sets. The third set super tiebreak was a tight battle, with the teams locked up a 6-6 after the second change of ends.

But the Americans only won one more point after that, as Venus and Mektic secured their place in the semifinals.

In their next match Venus and Mektic will play against the top seeds Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador and fellow Croatian Mate Pavic.

The teams last faced each other in the quarterfinals of the US Open where Arevalo and Pavic won 7-6 6-1.
