Kiwi doubles trio all in ATP action tonight
Michael Venus and John Peers begin their campaign overnight at the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna. They take on French Open champions Andreas Mies and Kevin Krawietz in their first round match.
A win for the antipodean duo would take them to the cusp of qualifying for the lucrative season ending ATP finals in London. Their opponents are also in superb form having won Roland Garros for the second straight year and reached the final last weekend in the ATP tournament Cologne. The Germans have already booked their spot in the field for London.
“Everyone’s playing here and trying to get in as many matches in before hopefully qualifying for London. So it’s going to be a tough match. They have won French Open two years in a row and made semi-finals at US Open last year so are playing well and have a lot of confidence.” Venus said.
Marcus Daniell and Artem Sitak are also in action tonight at the ATP 250 tournament in Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan.
Daniell and his Austrian partner Philipp Oswald meet Britain’s Dominic Inglot and Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi followed by Sitak and Dutchman Sander Arends against Serbian Nikola Cacic and Brazil’s Marcelo Demoliner.
