Impressive start for Routliffe, Dabrowsi in Strasbourg

Sunday, 18 May 2025

Erin Routliffe and Gaby Dabrowski have got off to an impressive start at the WTA 500 tournament in Strasbourg, France.

The top seeds defeated the Chinese duo of Wang Xin Yu and Zheng Saisai 6-2 6-2 in a match that lasted 64 minutes.

It’s the final tournament before Roland Garros begins next week and a deep run should be a good confidence boost for Routliffe and her Canadian partner ahead of the second grand slam of the year.

It was a serving masterclass for Routliffe and Dabrowski against the Chinese opponents. They served eight aces, got in 86 per cent of their first serves, while they won 67 per cent of the points on their second serve and unsurprisingly, they went through the match without being broken.

They won four of the five break points they had and won all four of the deciding point deuces.

In the quarterfinals, Routliffe and Dabrowski will play the winner of the match between Barbora Krejcikova and Linda Noskova against Cristina Bucsa and Xu Yifan.
