Constitutional Updates

What's New And What's Changed

We have worked collaboratively with our Regions and Associations to ensure that the new constitutions are simple, clear, comply with the new Act and set your club up for the future of the sport.

A Draft Club Constitution template is available to view under the 'Your New Constitution' section and, when ready, the final version will be downloadable so you can use it to re-register under the new Act.

Below outlines the key constitutional changes for each of the entities in the system.

  • Clubs become members of their Regional Tennis Organisation/Local Tennis Partner and Tennis NZ as part of the systemwide membership model.
  • Systemwide membership model for individuals to ensure all participants are subject to the Code of Conduct and other national policies. Club Ts&Cs are required to include automatic acceptance of RTO/LTP and TNZ Ts&Cs.
  • Individuals include all participants who interact digitally with the tennis system – through club membership, Book a Court, Business House leagues etc. A pragmatic approach will be taken to bring as many participants as possible into the system.
  • Digital connectivity between club member lists and the national database – required to keep everyone safer through visibility of who has agreed to Ts&Cs.
  • Systemwide membership model to apply to all clubs and participants.
  • Reclarifying regional delivery role and expectations.
  • Option to act through Regional Collectives.
  • Reclarifying delivery relationships through Memorandum of Understanding with LTPs.
  • Best practice guidance around board limits.
  • Power to intervene with member organisations under limited circumstances.
