Two continents, two titles: Ivanov, Shearer celebrate wins

Kiwis Valentina Ivanov and Matthew Shearer have each won doubles titles on different continents.
In Wichita, Kansas, Shearer and his American partner Ozan Baris defeated the Australian pairing of Matt Hulme and Kody Pearson 7-6(4) 7-6(4) in the final.
Shearer and Baris were unseeded for the tournament, while the Australians were the top seeds.
However, Shearer and Baris stepped up in both tiebreaks of the tight match to secure the trophy.
This is the first ITF senior title for the 22-year-old Shearer, who attended William Carey University in Mississippi.
Meanwhile, in Gdansk, Poland, Ivanov and her Danish partner Johanne Christine Svendsen came out on top 7-5 3-6 12-10 in an epic final against Nadia Affelt and Inka Wawrzkiewicz, who are both from Poland.
Ivanov and Svendsen won their other matches in Gdansk in straight sets, never losing more than six games in any match. But when the pressure came on in the final, they were able to hold their nerve in the super tiebreak.
This was Ivanov’s fifth ITF doubles title of her career and first for 2025. All of her titles have come with different partners
