Routliffe makes a fast start in Adelaide.

New Zealand doubles player Erin Routliffe and her Polish partner Alicja Rosolska have had an easy first round win at the WTA tournament in Adelaide. They have beaten the Australian wildcard pair of Annerley Poulos and Tina Smith 6-1 6-1.

 Marcus Daniell and Denis Kudla have received a bye into the second round of the ATP tournament in Sydney with no alternate pair found to replace Nick Kyrgios and Michail Pervolarakis who pulled out after Kyrgios tested positive for Covid. Daniell and Kudla will face the third seeds John Peers and Filip Polasek.

 Michael Venus and Tim Puetz are the fourth seeds and had a bye into the second round. Venus and Puetz last played together in November winning the prestigious Paris Masters and have high hopes for 2022. They face Frenchman Fabrice Martin and Britain’s Jonny O’Mara in the second round.
