NZ Teams finish strongly in Australia

The 11u NZ girls' team of Rosalie Pollyn, Lily Fannin, Charlize Cashmore and captain Dwayne Cleugh have finished runner up at the Australian Junior Teams Event in the  Gold Coast.

The team scored 3-0 victories in early rounds over Western Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania and beating South Australia 2-1 in the pool group.

In the semi-finals, NZ beat New South Wales 2-1 to secure their place in the final against Queensland. The final came down to the wire with Queensland taking the final match to win 2-1.

The NZ 13u girls had wins over Pacific Oceania, Northern Territory and Tasmania before a loss to second seeds Queensland in the pool play.

In the semi-finals, the team consisting of Yashwitha Reddy, Una Misic and Dorea Morina and Captain Chris Bint faced top seeds New South Wales. New South Wales came away with the win 2-0.

The girls finished strong with a 3-0 win over South Australia in 3rd/4th Playoff.

The NZ 11u boys' team, consisting of Levi Wu, Luke Barrett, Sam James and Captain Rynold Timothy finished third in pool play, with top seeds Queensland and fourth seeds ACT advancing from their pool to the semi-finals. The 11s boys team finished 7th with a 3-0 win over Tasmania.

The NZ 13u boys, consisting of Zach Wu, Liam Youn, Joshua Gilbert and Captain Nic Jenkins notched up wins over South Australia and Northern Territory, however had two close losses against Victoria and Western Australia to miss out on the semi-finals. The 13s team came back to finish 5th with wins over Tasmania and ACT in the Playoffs.
