NZ 13u Girls Win Australian Teams Event

The New Zealand girls’ team of Una Misic, Rosalie Pollyn, Aliyah Daly and captain Chris Bint have won the Mary Hawton Trophy at the Australian 13u Teams Event at KDV Tennis Centre, Gold Coast.
Despite a loss to top seeds Victoria in pool play, the NZ team went onto defeat New South Wales in the semi-finals to secure a place in the final. In a rain affected finals day, the NZ team managed to secure two singles wins against South Australia to take out the title.
The NZ 11u Boys team of Lukas Necas, Hunter Pang, Jiya Lokuge and Captain Josh Crozier narrowly missed out on the finals after being defeated 1-2 by Queensland in the semi-finals. NZ 11u Boys Team beat Western Australia in the playoffs to finish third.
The 11u Girls team consisting of Tatiana Na, Olivia Gibbons, Gloria Young and Captain Tabi Porter drew second seeds Queensland and fourth seeds South Australia in pool play with close loses to the seeded states to miss out on the semi-finals. The NZ 11u Girls Team went on to defeat ACT NT and Western Australia in the playoffs to finish fifth.
The 13u boys team Ethan Pryor, Neve Upston, Liam Howes and Captain Nic Jenkins also drew second seeds Queensland and third seeds South Australia in their pool play and missed out on the semi-finals finishing third in pool play. The NZ 13u Boys team went on to place seventh with a 2-0 win against Tasmania in the playoffs.
