New Zealand’s Monique Barry has advanced to the final in the doubles draw at the ITF $30,000 tournament in Burnie, Australia.

Barry and her Australian partner Elena Micic are the No 3 seeds at the Tasmanian tournament and on Friday they accounted for the top seeds, defeating the all Australian pairing of Jamiee Fourlie and Alana Parnaby 6-3 6-3.

In the final Barry and Micic will be up against another all Australian team of Gabriella Da Silva Fick and Belle Thompson.

The 22-year-old Barry has won five doubles titles during her career, but all at the lower W15 level.

A win on Saturday would be her first doubles title at this level.

Barry will stay in Tasmania next week and is scheduled to play at the tournament in Launceston.

Meanwhile, in the men's doubles semifinal in Burnie, James Watt and his Australian partner Matt Hulme defeated the Korean team of Ji Sung Nam and Singbeen Sim 6-4 6-3;
