Monique Barry bags second doubles title in as many weeks

Saturday, 01 March 2025

Monique Barry and Elena Micic have done it again.

The Kiwi and Australian pairing have won the doubles title at the ITF $30,000 tournament in Launceston, Tasmania.

In the final on Saturday, Barry and Micic defeated the Japanese duo of Miho Kuramochi and Erika Sema 6-2 6-4 and it follows winning the title in Burnie, Tasmania last week, which was also a ITF $30,000 tournament.

Barry played doubles with fellow Kiwi Jade Otway at the ASB Classic at the beginning of the season and showed New Zealand tennis fans her abilities in this form of the game.

Barry has continued to progress with her doubles and the 22-year-old will jump up from 289 to a career-high of around 270 when the ranking are next updated.

The next ITF tournament in Australia is in Mildura, starting March 10 and Barry and Micic have both entered to play in it.

Fellow Kiwis Katie Oliver and Boidehi Ukil are both listed to be in the qualifying draw.
