Lulu Sun has breezed into the quarterfinals of the WTA 125 tournament in Jinan, China, with a 6-1 6-2 win over the Netherlands’ Arianne Hartono in just 56 minutes.

Although Sun lost the opening set 6-3 in her first round match against Shi Han on Monday, she has lost just three games in the following four sets she’s played at the tournament.

This was another superb serving performance from the 24-year-old Kiwi, winning 87 per cent of the points when she got her first serve in and 63% on her second serve.

She also broke Hartono’s serve five times over the match and didn’t face a single break point herself.

By reaching the quarterfinals, Sun should get her ranking up to about 120 in the world.

In the next round, Sun will play against the winner of the match between top seed Anastasia Zakharova from Russia and Tatiana Prozorova, who is also Russian.
