Routliffe bows out of ASB Classic doubles

Top seeds New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe and her American partner Caroline Dolehide have been beaten 7-5 6-4 by American Catherine Harrison and Mexican Fernanda Contreas Gomez in the first round of the women’s doubles at Auckland’s ASB Classic.

Routliffe now turns her attention to the singles where she faces Romanian qualifier Elena Gabriela Ruse in the first round this afternoon.

Meanwhile mixed results for the two Kiwis at the Noumea ATP Challenger tournament.

Rubin Statham is through to the second round after a 6-3 6-4 win over Argentina’s Cenaro Alberto Olivieri. But Ajeet Rai has lost 7-5 6-4 to Colin Sinclair.
