Saturday, 01 November 2025

Monique Barry has taken out the doubles title at the ITF tournament at the Queensland Tennis Centre, in Brisbane.

On Saturday, Barry and her Japanese partner Natsumi Kawaguchi defeated Tenika McGiffen from Australia and Naho Sato, who is also from Japan, 7-5 6-3.

Barry and Kawaguchi were the top seeds in the doubles draw and only dropped one set in the entire tournament. That was against Kiwi Valentina Ivanov and Britain’s Brook Black in the semifinals, when they triumphed 7-5 3-6 10-3.

McGiffen and Sato were the third seeds.

This was Barry’s fifth doubles title of 2025, with all of them coming in Australia and it was her first tournament victory with Kawaguchi.

Barry will play again in Brisbane next week, where she is in the qualifying draw, along with Ivanov.
