Ajeet Rai and Vivian Yang claim singles titles in Wellington

Men’s top seed Ajeet Rai and women’s fifth seed Vivian Yang have won the ITF World Tour singles titles in Wellington.

23 year old Rai has defeated wildcard James Watt 6-2 6-4 in an hour and 18 minutes to win the men’s title. It’s his second ITF singles title. 17 year old Yang has beaten Jade Otway 6-3 6-3 in an hour and 24 minutes to win her first ITF singles title. Both matches were played indoors due to the inclement weather in the Capital.

The players now head to Papamoa for this week’s tournaments with the men’s event an ITF US$15,000 tournament and the women’s an ITF US $25,000 tournament.
