Immigration NZ Visa Changes - Tennis Coaches

In brief, if a person holds/or is offered a role as a 'Tennis Coach - Performance', there is now a pathway under the AEWV route because that occupation is now listed as one of the recognised occupations.

So how does that work?

Employers who are accredited can advertise the job, ascertain that no suitable New Zealander can fill it, apply for a job-check, and then hire a non-New Zealander under the AEWV.

Since the role of 'Tennis Coach - Performance' is classed at a skill level 3, it potentially allows for a longer stay (up to 5 years), and the possibility of bringing family.

For coaches at a national/regional professional level, the SPWV changes mean that they can stay up to 36 months and may be able to apply for a further SPWV if the contract is extended.

We have already seen a greater acceptance of the need for short-term coach appointments with both Tennis Southland and Tennis South Canterbury successfully applying for short term visas.
