Terrific starts for Kiwi doubles players Erin Routliffe and Marcus Daniell at WTA and ATP tournaments overnight in Turkey and Austria.

Routliffe has teamed up with Britain’s Naomi Broady to beat the wildcard pair of Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard and Turkey’s Basek Eraydin 6-4 6-3 in 1 hour 14 in the first round of the BNP Paribas Championship in Istanbul. Routliffe and Broady will face second seeded Aussies Ellen Perez and Storm Sanders in the quarter finals.

Daniell and his Austrian partner Philipp Oswald have beaten Moldova’s Radu Albot and Georgia’s Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-1 6-4 at the ATP tournament in Kitzbuhel in Austria. Daniell and Oswald will face top seeds Marcel Granollers of Spain and Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos in the quarter finals.
