Tennis New Zealand (Tennis NZ) is seeking to appoint two Board Directors from October 2022.

As the National Sport Organisation for tennis, Tennis NZ is responsible for leading development of programmes and opportunities to enable, encourage and enhance participation in tennis in New Zealand, and performance on the international stage. The TNZ Board is responsible for governance of the organisation.

The Tennis New Zealand (Tennis NZ) Board comprises eight Directors, four of whom are appointed and four elected. In 2022, Tennis NZ has two Appointed Board Director positions open by rotation. One current Board Director is intending to seek re-appointment.

Directors generally serve three-year terms.

Ideal Applicant Profile

We are seeking individuals who can provide collaborative and focussed governance for the sport of tennis in New Zealand.

Applicants should demonstrate an orientation towards strategic and future oriented thinking. They should also be comfortable working with a variety of stakeholder inputs to agree priorities for development of the tennis system in New Zealand.

While we seek applications from candidates with a range of experience and expertise, we would welcome candidates with professional experience in legal and change management as part of succession planning.

Prior governance experience would be helpful but is not essential. Directors must however be prepared to participate in regular governance reviews and be willing to develop their personal governance capabilities.
